Matthew’s Story

In 2016, 22-year-old Matthew was working has a radiochemist in Sydney, having recently graduated University with a physics and mathematics degree.
One day, after lunch, Matthew was struck by a car whilst crossing a road on his walk back to work. In that instant his life changed forever.
The accident left him as a C3/4 quadriplegic, paralysed from the neck down. He was in rehabilitation for 18 months while his life was put on hold.
Matthew learnt that momentary lapses of judgement or poor decision making can have devastating, life changing consequences. He now shares his story to help raise awareness of the impacts of permanent injury; educating others to make better choices.
